Irritable Bowel Syndrome or IBS, is more common among women than men and a recent study offers a potential explanation for this connection. While the study offers early-stage information on this potential correlation, which itself requires further study before a firm conclusion about this relationship can be reached, this data suggests that sex hormones play an important role in the development of IBS in patients.
