A recent study indicates that foods more likely to cause inflammation, such as red and processed meats, sugary beverages and refined grains, also carry an increased risk of Colorectal Cancer. Researchers at Harvard, who studied over 100,000 test subjects for more than a quarter century, found that individuals who ate foods that tended to result in increased body inflammation also carried a 32% greater risk of developing Colorectal Cancer, as compared to those who consumed less-inflammatory foods. Minimizing the role of inflammatory foods can be most effective in overweight or obese men and more petite women.
